... says Govt serious on expansion plans proposed by MPT

Clearly indicating that the Government has taken seriously the expansion plans proposed by the MPT, the Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said the issue has been taken up with the Central government authorities.
Responding to concerns raised by Mormugao MLA Milind Naik (BJP) about the MPT’s plans to expand port activities and existing problem of coal dust pollution caused due to loading and unloading at two terminals of the port, Kamat said, “they have taken the issue seriously.”
Referring to points raised by Naik, the chief minister said he is personally monitoring the problem and his government will soon come out with comprehensive solution.
The Union Minister for Shipping G K Vasan as well as new Union Secretary for Shipping Mohandas has been briefed about the problem. Also, Union Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh during
his visit to Goa , a few months back , had been informed about what’s happening, Kamat said.
