Goa State Pollution Control Board revokes consent to operate

Goa State Pollution Control Board revoked consent to operate Fomento’s Gogoro Ou Gulcan Dongor Mine, located at T.C. No. 6/49 in Colamb village in Sanguem taluka.

In a notice issued to the company on 14th March 2008 Goa’s Pollution Control Board has observed that the mining activity that is going on is in the Forest land identified by Sawant and Karapurkar Committee.

The board took this decision under the powers vested with the board under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.

The mining company Hiralal Kodidas has been directed to close down the operations in private forest areas with immediate effect.

South Goa Collector has been directed to ensure closure of the mines operation in this regard until further orders.
