Mining trucks flout High Court directions of overloading
The officials from Quepem such as the Executive Magistrate, RTO, DY-SP, SDM are abetting to commit contempt of high Court order regarding order loading of mining truck claims members of Quepem Taluka Mining Affected peoples front.
The member of QTMAPF claims that the High Court of Goa bench in its order dated 22/4/2010 passed in writ petition No.320/2009 and 256 of 2009 stated that “All trucks/tipper engaged in the transportation of ore shall leave in the cargo box on all four sides a free board of not less then 9”, that is to say the cargo box shall be loaded by leaving not less then 9” from chambrim (brim).
The member of QTMAPF stated that on 24/4/2010 the collector G.P.Naik called a meeting in his chamber to inform all the officer about the High Court order in which collector has directed them to implement of the High Court order.
QTMAPF claim that contempt of the High court order is openly committed by the mining truck and the mining contractor as over loaded mining truck passes via Quepem where the offices of SDM, Executive Magistrate, RTO, Dy-SP are based. All the mining truck operating via Quepem town has altered the body of their truck to facilitate overloading. The meeting called by the Collector is a mere eye wash as not even 1% implementation is done claims the QTMAPF. The Collector of South Goa G.P. Naik is least bothered to see that the High court order is being implemented as inspite of written complaints with photographs of overloading of mining truck goes unabated as a result the people of Quepem continues to face dust pollution even on Monday as the mining operation via Quepem is still going on in full swing.
Meanwhile as it was raining on Mondays and the mining truck were in operation the entire road from Ambaulim to Quepem town due to spillage of ore turned into red.
