This pictures shows mining rejects dumped on the top of the Hill. Paira river is one of the outstanding casualty of the miners restless souls.

Paira river earlier had loading point for barges during Colonial Portuguese regime. This name plate still intact shows that it was inaugurated by Portuguese military officer Comondante Sarmento Rodrigues in 1952. Colonial heritage of Portuguese regime is evident here.

Paira's landscape is dominated by mining activity. This is going to be the state of entire Goa - particularly of Sattari, Bicholim, Sanguem, Quepem and parts of talukas such as Bardez, Canacona, Salcete and Tiswadi.
